Twenty four-year scholarships of $40,000, paid as $10,000 a year.
Who can apply
Black/African American high school seniors who excel academically, show leadership and take part in community service, and who demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold a permanent resident visa. Students already in college are not eligible.
Applications are made directly with the provider. We never collect your application, never charge for one, and are not involved in selection.
Where this came from
Read from ronbrown.org on 14 September 2026, which states 20 four-year $40,000 scholarships at $10,000 each year, a final submission deadline of 1 December and counselor letters due 15 December. The page prints no year. It also states the 2027 application is open and that applicants must be current high school seniors, which puts this cycle's deadline on 1 December 2026.
Last checked September 14, 2026. Amounts and deadlines change every cycle, so confirm both with the provider before you rely on them.
Before you apply anywhere
- A legitimate scholarship never charges an application fee. If one does, it is not a scholarship.
- Nobody can guarantee you will win one. A guarantee is the clearest single sign of a scam.
- You should not need a bank account number or a Social Security number to apply. Those come later, from the college, if you win.
- Apply on the provider’s own site rather than through a middleman offering to do it for you.
